Direct Placement
A direct placement occurs when the birth parents and prospective adoptive parents already know each other and are making adoption plans. The Adoption Centre can also guide you through this somewhat less complex adoption process. Complete counselling, education, and legal information are provided to both birth parents and adoptive family. A detailed study is completed of the applicants, and a medical and social history of the child is also compiled. All necessary court and ministry documentation is completed.
Please note, however, that costs can vary according to individual cases. Contact us for an information package and applicable fee schedule.

Revocation
There are many birth parents who begin the process of adoption planning but choose to parent. Being matched with a birth parent does not guarantee placement. Birth mothers have thirty days after the child’s birth to revoke their consent, even if the child has been placed.
This aspect of domestic adoption is covered thoroughly during your home study as it can evoke high anxiety in adoptive parents. We believe that the more prepared you are for such a possibility, the better you can expect to cope with such an event.
